AB123,1,2 1An Act to create 118.46 (3) of the statutes; relating to: failure to report bullying
2in public schools and providing a penalty.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law requires each school board to adopt a policy prohibiting bullying
by pupils. A school board may adopt the model school policy on bullying developed
by the Department of Public Instruction.
This bill provides that if a school district's policy requires that school district
officials and employees report incidents of bullying, and a school district official or
employee fails to report an incident of bullying within the period required, the official
or employee is subject to a forfeiture of $200 for each violation.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB123,1 3Section 1. 118.46 (3) of the statutes is created to read:
AB123,2,24 118.46 (3) If a school board's policy under sub. (2) requires that school district
5officials and employees report incidents of bullying, and a school district official or
