SJR42,1,53 Whereas, on December 14, 2012, a gunman broke into Sandy Hook Elementary
4School in Newtown, Connecticut, and fatally shot 20 young elementary school
5children and six adult school staff members; and
SJR42,1,96 Whereas, this tragedy has caused the Newtown community, the families and
7friends of the victims, and the entire country immeasurable grief for the senseless
8loss of innocent children, and for the dedicated elementary school staff who died
9protecting and shielding the children in their care; and
SJR42,1,1010 Whereas, Charlotte Bacon, age six, loved school and dresses; and
SJR42,1,1211 Whereas, Daniel Barden, age seven, loved to ride waves at the beach and make
12s'mores around the bonfire with his cousins; and
SJR42,1,1513 Whereas, Rachel D'Avino, age 29, worked as a behavioral therapist with
14children with special needs and loved karate, cooking, animals, photography, and her
15two younger siblings; and
1Whereas, Olivia Engel, age six, loved school and the colors pink and purple; and

3her neighborhood in the summer, and loved the color purple; and

5Elementary School and was well-loved for her enduring kindness and commitment
6to the children in her care; and

8at the bus stop every morning; and

2especially his twin sister, Arielle; and

6brothers, and everything about horses; and

SJR42,3,98 Whereas, Lauren Rousseau, age 30, achieved her lifelong dream of being a

11gardening, reading, and going to the theater; and
SJR42,3,1312 Whereas, Victoria Soto, age 27, was a passionate, caring first-grade teacher
13whose favorite holiday was Christmas; and
SJR42,3,1514 Whereas, Benjamin Wheeler, age six, loved the Beatles and wanted to be an
15architect and a paleontologist; and
SJR42,3,1716 Whereas, Allison N. Wyatt, age six, loved to laugh and to draw, and wanted to
17be an artist; now, therefore, be it
SJR42,3,21 18Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That December 14 shall
19be designated as a day of remembrance for the 20 children and six adult school staff
20members who were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School, for the grieving friends
21and family of the victims, and for the community of Newtown, Connecticut.
