2015 WISCONSIN ACT 272
An Act relating to: dementia crisis unit pilot program proposal.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

1.
Nonstatutory provisions.
(1) (a) In this subsection:
1. "Dementia crisis unit" means a unit or part of a unit of a public or private facility that is qualified, competent, and equipped to provide diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of dementia and medical, psychiatric, and behavioral care to individuals who have dementia and that provides a therapeutic environment that is appropriate for and designed to prevent harm to individuals who have dementia.
2. "Department" means the department of health services.
(b) Before November 1, 2016, the department shall prepare a proposal for one or more pilot programs for coalitions of 2 or more counties to create dementia crisis units. The department shall submit the proposal under this paragraph to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature with jurisdiction over health, aging and long-term care, or mental health issues under section 13.172 (3) of the statutes.
