The Assembly met in the Assembly Chamber located in the State Capitol.

The Assembly stood for a moment of silence, followed by the French national anthem, “La Marseillaise”, and the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner”.
The prayer was offered by His Grace Bishop Demetrios of Mokissos from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago.
Representative Berceau led the membership in reciting the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
