SB610,1,3 1An Act to renumber 301.287; to repeal and recreate 301.287 (title); and to

301.287 (2) of the statutes; relating to: limiting overtime at the
3Department of Corrections.

This bill prohibits an employee of the Department of Corrections from working
overtime for more than two consecutive shifts.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB610,1 4Section 1. 301.287 (title) of the statutes is repealed and recreated to read:
SB610,1,5 5301.287 (title) Overtime.
SB610,2 6Section 2. 301.287 of the statutes is renumbered 301.287 (1).
SB610,3 7Section 3. 301.287 (2) of the statutes is created to read:
SB610,2,38 301.287 (2) No employee of the department may work overtime for more than
92 consecutive shifts. If this prohibition is violated by an employee who works at a

1prison, the warden of that prison shall submit a report to the joint committee on
2finance, and, if this prohibition is violated by an employee who does not work at a
3prison, the secretary shall submit a report to the joint committee on finance.
SB610,4 4Section 4. Effective date.
SB610,2,65 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 7th month beginning after
6publication.
