20.435 (5) (gp) of the statutes is created to read:
(gp) Grants for local governments; opioid abuse.
All moneys received 6
from judgments from any lawsuits filed under 2017 Wisconsin Act .... (this act), 7
section 9128 (5w), for the purpose of awarding grants under s. 51.03 (7).”.
51.03 (7) of the statutes is created to read:
From the appropriation under s. 20.435 (5) (gp), the department shall 11
award grants to county and local health departments that apply for a grant in the 12
manner specified by the department to be used for opioid addiction prevention and 13
recovery efforts and intervention services.”.
Filing suit against opioid manufacturers.
The legislature requests that 4
the attorney general consider the appropriateness of filing suit against opioid 5
manufacturers and submit a report to the chief clerk of each house of the legislature 6
for distribution to the legislature under section 13.172 (2) of the statutes by October 7
