ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 4, TO SENATE BILL 69

SB69-AA4,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

SB69-AA4,1,3 1. Page 1, line 4: delete the material beginning with that line and ending with page 2, line 7, and substitute:

SB69-AA4,1,4 “ Section 1m. 30.69 (1) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB69-AA4,1,10 30.69 (1) (a) Except as provided in par. pars. (ag) and (b), no person may operate a motorboat towing a person on water skis, aquaplane, or similar device unless there is in the boat motorboat a competent person in addition to the operator in a position to observe the progress of the person being towed. An observer shall be considered competent if that person can in fact observe the person being towed and relay any signals to the operator.

SB69-AA4,1,12 (ag) This The observer requirement under par. (a) does not apply to motorboats any of the following:

SB69-AA4,2,3 1. An operator of a motorboat classified as a Class A motorboats motorboat by the department that is actually operated by the persons person being towed and so constructed as to be incapable of carrying the operator in or on the motorboat.".

SB69-AA4,2,4 2. Page 2, line 12: delete lines 12 to 14 and substitute:

SB69-AA4,2,5 “ Section 2m. 30.69 (1) (ag) 2. and 3. of the statutes are created to read:

SB69-AA4,2,6 30.69 (1) (ag) 2. A motorboat operator who is a member of a water ski club.

SB69-AA4,2,8 3. A motorboat operator who tows a person on water skis only in an area designated as a water ski course.".
