2017 Assembly Joint Resolution 13
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Representative Thomas Larson.
Whereas, Thomas “Tom” Larson was an entrepreneur, cattle farmer, loving husband and father, proud grandfather, friend to all, and dedicated public servant; and
Whereas, Tom was born on February 11, 1948, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, graduating from Colfax High School in 1966, and attended Chippewa Valley Tech; and
Whereas, Tom worked in multiple trades and occupations, including farmer, heavy equipment operator, metal fabricator, machinist, and commercial driver; and
Whereas, Tom was a master electrician and licensed designer and worked for Uniroyal Goodrich Tire Co. in Eau Claire for many years before starting and managing his own business, Bear Valley Electric, in Colfax and Menomonie from 1991 to 2010; and
Whereas, Tom was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010 and served as a state representative for the 67th Assembly District for three terms, representing most of Chippewa County and parts of Dunn and Barron counties; and
Whereas, Tom served as the chairman of the Assembly Committee on Family Law, championed professional licensure legislation, and was an advocate for veterans; and
Whereas, Tom was a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, Chippewa Valley Homebuilders, ABC of Wisconsin, Colfax Kiwanis Club, National Rifle Association, National Federation of Independent Business, and the Chippewa Falls Area Chamber of Commerce; and
Whereas, Tom married his loving wife, Mary Ann Nelson Larson, in 1967, raising three children, Roger, John, and Cynthia, together during their marriage of 50 years; and
Whereas, Tom loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, tractor pulls, and traveling, as well as spending time with his family, friends, and constituents; and
Whereas, Tom, on the day of his 50th wedding anniversary to Mary, and after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer, passed away on February 18, 2017, to be forever with our Lord and Savior; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Thomas Larson and extend their condolences to his family and friends.
