Constitutional Amendments—April 3, 2018, Election
Subject of Amendment
One question submitting an amendment to the Wisconsin Constitution for ratification was on the April 3, 2018, statewide election ballot. The number of votes cast for or against the question, shown below, was copied from the official canvass certified by the Wisconsin Elections Commission. The amendment was rejected by a majority of the members voting on the question.
Question 1 was placed on the ballot by 2017 Senate Joint Resolution 3 (2017 Enrolled Joint Resolution 7). The question concerned the elimination of the office of state treasurer.
Question 1: “Elimination of state treasurer. Shall sections 1 and 3 of article VI and sections 7 and 8 of article X of the constitution be amended, and section 17 of article XIV of the constitution be created, to eliminate the office of state treasurer from the constitution and to replace the state treasurer with the lieutenant governor as a member of the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands?"
