(L) Prescribing and administering injectable hormonal 4
contraceptives and prescribing and dispensing self-administered hormonal 5
contraceptives pursuant to s. 450.095 (2m).”.
(ag) “Injectable hormonal contraceptive” means a drug composed 8
of a hormone or a combination of hormones that is approved by the federal food and 9
drug administration to prevent pregnancy and that a health care practitioner 10
administers to the patient by injection.
(ar) “Self-administered hormonal contraceptive" means a drug composed of a 12
hormone or a combination of hormones that is approved by the federal food and drug 13
administration to prevent pregnancy and that the patient to whom the drug is
prescribed may self-administer. “Self-administered hormonal contraceptive” 2
includes hormonal contraceptive patches and hormonal contraceptive pills.”.

“b. Report to the patient's primary care practitioner upon prescribing and 16
dispensing the self-administered hormonal contraceptive or upon prescribing and 17
administering the injectable hormonal contraceptive.
c. Provide the patient with a written record of the self-administered hormonal 19
contraceptive prescribed and dispensed or the injectable hormonal contraceptive 20
prescribed and administered.
d. As soon as practicable after the pharmacist issues the prescription order, 22
dispense the self-administered hormonal contraceptive to the patient or administer 23
the injectable hormonal contraceptive to the patient.
4. The rules promulgated under subd. 1. shall prohibit a pharmacist from 2
prescribing and dispensing a self-administered hormonal contraceptive to a patient, 3
or from prescribing and administering an injectable hormonal contraceptive to a 4
patient, unless all of the following apply:”.
“b. The use of the self-administered hormonal contraceptive or injectable 7
hormonal contraceptive is not contraindicated based upon the results”.
