ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: celebrating the 2019 Oshkosh North High School softball team's undefeated season and State Division 1 Championship.
Whereas, on June 8, 2019, the Oshkosh North Spartans defeated the Sun Prairie Cardinals in the State High School Division 1 softball title game; and
Whereas, the Spartans won 4-2 in nine innings, to earn the program's first state championship in Division 1 softball history; and
Whereas, the Spartans finished the season with a perfect 31-0 record, including 19-0 in conference play; and
Whereas, the Spartans finished the season ranked first in the state and fifth nationally by MaxPreps; and
Whereas, the team was led by several standout players who helped propel them to success; and
Whereas, senior pitcher Sydney Supple was named Wisconsin Gatorade Player of the Year for the third straight season and MaxPreps' National Player of the Year, finished the season 29-0 as a starting pitcher with a .538 batting average and 12 home runs, and struck out a record 36 batters over her three games in the state tournament, including 11 batters in the title game; and
Whereas, senior third baseperson Libby Neveau finished the season with a .505 batting average and 15 home runs, and was named to the All-State first team and National All-North Region second team; and
Whereas, the Oshkosh North Spartans softball team finished a historic season with a perfect record and defeated the defending state champions in a close title game; now, therefore, it be
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That: the members of the Wisconsin Legislature congratulate the Oshkosh North softball team on its outstanding achievement and accomplishments.
