2019 Senate Joint Resolution 67
ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: honoring the life and public service of Dennis Burns.
Whereas, Dennis Burns served the Wisconsin State Senate as the Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms and retired in July after more than 30 years of dedicated service to the people of Wisconsin, including work in the Wisconsin State Assembly; and
Whereas, Dennis served our nation in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War; and
Whereas, Dennis had a deep love for collecting vintage muscle cars and riding motorcycles. He rode his motorcycles across the country and often participated in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association Freedom Ride; and
Whereas, Dennis had a loving family including his wife, Olga, three children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; and
Whereas, Dennis bravely battled cancer for the last 12 years while simultaneously continuing his excellent work as Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms; and
Whereas, Dennis passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2019. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues in the Wisconsin State Legislature; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the
senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin State Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Dennis Burns on a tremendous lifelong career of service to our nation and the State of Wisconsin and extend our condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint resolution to Dennis's wife, Olga Pristash, and his family.
