AJR136,1,42 Whereas, Warren A. Grady was a World War II veteran, public servant, loving
3husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, avid reader, and active member of
4his church and his community; and
AJR136,1,75 Whereas, Warren was born on March 3, 1924, in Port Washington, Wisconsin,
6and graduated in 1942 from Port Washington High School, where he was a member
7of the National Honor Society and competed in both football and track; and
AJR136,1,108 Whereas, Warren served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946,
9achieving the rank of lieutenant and serving in the Pacific Fleet during World War
10II; and
AJR136,1,1311 Whereas, following his military service, Warren completed his higher
12education, graduating with a bachelor's degree from Northwestern University and
13a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and

1Whereas, Warren was elected City Attorney in Port Washington in April 1952,
2followed by his election in November 1952 to the Wisconsin Assembly representing
3Ozaukee County; and
AJR136,2,84 Whereas, during his four terms in the Wisconsin Assembly, Warren served on
5the Committee on State Affairs; Committee on Judiciary; Committee on Taxation;
6Committee on Rules; Joint Committee on Revisions, Repeals, and Uniform
7Laws—including service as chair of Taxation and of Rules—and was majority floor
8leader for the 1957 session; and
AJR136,2,119 Whereas, Warren was the author of laws enacted on various topics, including
10civil defense and emergency government, chemical tests for intoxication, unlawful
11dealing in narcotics, motor vehicle fuel taxes, courts, and other areas of policy; and
AJR136,2,1412 Whereas, Warren was elected Ozaukee County judge in 1962, and was reelected
13to multiple terms for a total of 32 years, the longest tenure in office for any Ozaukee
14County judge; and
AJR136,2,1715 Whereas, Warren was active in community organizations including American
16Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Kiwanis, and as a Scout leader received the
17Silver Beaver Award, the highest honor for a Scout leader; and
AJR136,2,2018 Whereas, Warren was an active member at Friedens Evangelical Church as a
19Sunday school teacher and choir member, and where he met Phyllis Witzlib, whom
20he married in 1951; and
AJR136,2,2521 Whereas, in 68 years of marriage Warren and Phyllis raised eight children; had
2217 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; travelled to 49 states; enjoyed time
23at their cottage on Townline Lake in Three Lakes, Wisconsin, and a seasonal home
24in Green Valley, Arizona; and were most recently residents of Oak Park Place in
25Baraboo, Wisconsin; and

4Wisconsin Legislature join in honoring the life and public service of Warren A. Grady
5and extend their condolences to his family and friends.
