1Relating to: condemning political violence.
Whereas, the members of the Wisconsin State Assembly support the people's 3
right to peacefully assemble and exercise their First Amendment right to freedom 4
of speech; and
Whereas, peaceful political protest has a long and consequential history in this 6
country and has contributed to making the United States of America a better and 7
more just nation; and
Whereas, during this past year violence has erupted during political 9
demonstrations and protests, causing serious harm to persons and the destruction 10
of property; and
Whereas, individuals engaging in violent acts during protests and 12
demonstrations undermine the very political and social causes that they profess to 13
Whereas, political violence is strongly condemned by all responsible citizens 15
regardless of party affiliation; now, therefore, be it

political violence in any form has no place in 2
the American system of government and should never be tolerated.
