Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a program sponsor for continuing education for
chiropractors is required to submit its program to the Chiropractic Examining Board
for approval. This bill requires that a program sponsor for continuing education for
chiropractors, chiropractic technicians, or chiropractic radiological technicians must
submit its program to the Chiropractic Examining Board for approval. The bill also
adds the Chiropractic Society of Wisconsin to the list of chiropractic continuing
education program sponsors acceptable for license renewal.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
446.028 of the statutes is renumbered 446.028 (2) and amended to 5
Each program sponsor of a continuing education program required 2
to be completed by a chiropractor, chiropractic technician, or chiropractic
as a condition of license renewal shall submit the program to 4
the examining board for approval.
In this section, “program sponsor" means the Wisconsin Chiropractic 6
Association, the Chiropractic Society of Wisconsin,
the International Chiropractors 7
Association, a college of chiropractic approved by the examining board, and a college 8
of medicine or osteopathy accredited by an accrediting body listed as nationally 9
recognized by the secretary of the federal department of education. “Program 10
sponsor" does not include an individual, organization, or institution of higher 11
education approved under s. 46.03 (38) to provide instruction in the use of an 12
automated external defibrillator.
