Medical Assistance
Coverage of substance abuse treatment room and board under Medical Assistance
Currently, DHS administers the Medical Assistance program, which is a joint federal and state program that provides health services to individuals who have limited financial resources. This bill directs DHS to pay allowable charges on behalf of recipients of Medical Assistance for room and board for residential substance use disorder treatment.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1
. 49.46 (2) (b) 8m. of the statutes is created to read:
49.46 (2) (b) 8m. Room and board for residential substance use disorder treatment.
