UW System direct admission program
This bill requires the Board of Regents of the UW System to establish a direct admission program that provides Wisconsin high school graduates with conditional or guaranteed admission to a UW System institution based on established eligibility criteria.
Institute for Sustainable Technology at UW-Stevens Point
This bill requires the Board of Regents of the UW System to provide funding to the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology at UW-Stevens Point to broaden the institute's support for, and further technical contributions to, the state's forest and paper industries and for the institute's ongoing operations.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
Section 1. 36.11 (3) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
36.11 (3) (a) The Subject to par. (am), the board shall establish the policies for admission within the system and within these policies each institution shall establish specific requirements for admission to its courses of instruction. No sectarian or partisan tests or any tests based upon race, religion, national origin of U.S. citizens or sex shall ever be allowed in the admission of students thereto.
Section 2. 36.11 (3) (am) of the statutes is created to read:
36.11 (3) (am) The board shall establish a direct admission program that provides Wisconsin high school graduates with conditional or guaranteed undergraduate admission to an institution based on established eligibility criteria.
Section 3. 36.25 (58) of the statutes is created to read:
36.25 (58) Institute for Sustainable Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. From the appropriation under s. 20.285 (1) (a), the Board of Regents shall provide funding to the Wisconsin Institute for Sustainable Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to broaden the institute's support for, and further technical contributions to, the state's forest and paper industries and for the institute's ongoing operations.
Section 9147. Nonstatutory provisions; University of Wisconsin System
(1) Direct admission program. The Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System shall work with a consultant to develop the direct admission program under s. 36.11 (3) (am) and, in developing the program, shall also consult with the department of public instruction, the technical college system board, and other interested stakeholders. The Board of Regents shall implement the direct admission program under s. 36.11 (3) (am) no later than the beginning of the admissions cycle for the 2025-26 academic year.
