AJR82,1,52 Whereas, on October 7, 2023, Hamas, a United States-designated Foreign
3Terrorist Organization, attacked Israel without provocation, murdering innocent
4civilians in a ground assault and launching more than 4,500 rockets
5indiscriminately; and
AJR82,1,76 Whereas, this heinous attack by Hamas terrorists resulted in the murder of
7hundreds of innocent civilians of all ages; and
AJR82,1,98 Whereas, the evil actions of these terrorists resulted in the death of at least 14
9innocent Americans, as well as many other foreign nationals; and
AJR82,1,1210 Whereas, Hamas terrorists have taken civilians hostage, resulting in the
11abhorrent and inhumane treatment of innocent people, including many children and
12elderly people; and
1Whereas, this massive act of terrorism took place during Shabbat and the
2Jewish holidays of Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah and one day after the 50th
3anniversary of the start of the 1973 Yom Kippur War against Israel; and
AJR82,2,64 Whereas, the Israeli people have suffered a violent attack, clearly designed to
5maximize terror and harm to civilians, resulting in the largest mass slaughter of
6Jews since the Holocaust; and
AJR82,2,87 Whereas, this attack is yet another instance of the centuries-long persecution
8and anti-Semitism that Jewish people have suffered; now, therefore, be it
AJR82,2,11 9Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
10State Legislature condemns the actions of Hamas' barbaric attack against Israel;
11and, be it further
AJR82,2,14 12Resolved, That the Wisconsin State Legislature calls on Hamas to
13immediately cease violent hostilities and return all hostages unharmed; and, be it
AJR82,2,16 15Resolved, That Wisconsin expresses its condolences and support to all affected
16families; and, be it further
AJR82,2,18 17Resolved, That Wisconsin stands in solidarity with the Israeli people and
18reaffirms its unwavering commitment to Israel's sovereignty and security.
