2025 ASSEMBLY JOINT RESOLUTION 85

AJR85,1,2 Relating to: congratulating the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Baseball Team on winning the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship.

AJR85,1,5 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Baseball Team won a record-breaking third title after securing the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship on June 4, 2025; and

AJR85,1,10 Whereas, after a historic tournament run, the UW-Whitewater Baseball Team defeated Messiah University 21-5 in a best-of-three series, which the team swept, setting a new DIII record with 74 runs scored over the course of the tournament and finishing the season with 49 wins and 6 losses—the most in program history; and

AJR85,1,12 Whereas, the Warhawks scored double-digit runs in four out of five of the College World Series tournament games in the 2025 season; and

AJR85,2,2 Whereas, during the final game, Junior Andy Thies hit a three-run home run in the top of the first inning, Sophomore Aaron Holland hit an RBI single to the left in the top of the second inning, and Senior Darryl Jackson hit a single at the top of the fourth inning; and

AJR85,2,4 Whereas, Senior Matt Scolan registered his 300th career hit on a two-run home run in the sixth inning; and

AJR85,2,6 Whereas, Junior Cade Hansen pitched 5.1 innings, struck out four, issued no walks, and allowed only two runs on three hits; and

AJR85,2,10 Whereas, Senior Adam Cootway was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament, was responsible for 18 Warhawk runs, hit four home runs over the course of the tournament, and set multiple records in the eight-team College World Series with 12 runs, 34 total bases, and two triples; and

AJR85,2,23 Whereas, the team was led by 2025 DIII Baseball All-Tournament Team members Senior Adam Cootway, Senior Eli Frank, Junior Andy Thies, Junior Danny Hopper, Senior Sam Paden, Senior Matt Scolan, Junior Cade Hansen, and Sophomore Ben Lee, who were joined by teammates Senior Charlie Bogue, Junior Brandon Brust, Junior Sava Dupor, Junior Logan Eisenbarth, Junior Reese Fetherston, Sophomore Jack Hagen, Sophomore George Hansen, Sophomore Wyatt Hansen, Freshman Maddux Hibbard, Sophomore Aaron Holland, Sophomore Cade Honkamp, Senior Max Huseboe, Senior Darryl Jackson, Junior Wyatt Jensen, Sophomore Jackson Koenig, Sophomore Brady Malkow, Sophomore Dominik McVay, Senior Alex Najera, Freshman Evan Olson, Junior Cooper Pease, Freshman Brett Sommer, Freshman Jackson Spring, Sophomore Jack Taczy, Freshman Hudson Turner, Junior Austin Wessel, Sophomore Ethan Wickman, and Junior Ryne Willard; and

AJR85,3,9 Whereas, the team was managed by dedicated coaches and staff, led by Head Coach John Vodenlich in his 22nd season with UW-Whitewater, Assistant Coach Zach Bayreuther in his second season with UW-Whitewater, Assistant Coach Peyton Schneider in his second season with UW-Whitewater, Assistant Coach Armando Hernandez in his 28th season with UW-Whitewater, Assistant Coach Tom Klawitter in his ninth season with UW-Whitewater, Assistant Coach Mark Fuller in his 12th season with UW-Whitewater, Director of Baseball Operations Sam Martin in his second season with UW-Whitewater, Athletic Trainer Kelly Loudon in her second season with UW-Whitewater, and Director of Sports Performance Lee Munger in his 20th season with UW-Whitewater; and

AJR85,3,12 Whereas, Head Coach John Vodenlich celebrated his 800th career win this season, and the team has not finished with a losing record since he took over the program in 2004; and

AJR85,3,15 Whereas, 2025 was the 10th College World Series appearance in program history and the third NCAA DIII National Championship win for the UW- Whitewater Baseball program, with prior wins in 2005 and 2014; and

AJR85,3,18 Whereas, the UW-Whitewater community and our state take pride in the integrity, leadership, and excellence the team has demonstrated during this historic season; now, therefore, be it

AJR85,4,2 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the Wisconsin State Legislature do hereby congratulate and commend the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Baseball Team, coaching staff, and athletic department on winning the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship title and wish the student-athletes, coaches, and staff continued success on and off the field.
