1997 WISCONSIN ACT 325
An Act to renumber 346.60 (3m); and to create 346.60 (3m) (b) of the statutes; relating to: increasing forfeitures for motor vehicle speed restriction violations committed in school zones and providing penalties.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:
325,1 Section 1 . 346.60 (3m) of the statutes is renumbered 346.60 (3m) (a).
325,2 Section 2 . 346.60 (3m) (b) of the statutes is created to read:
346.60 (3m) (b) If an operator of a vehicle violates s. 346.57 (2) to (5) when children are present in a zone designated by “school" warning signs as provided in s. 118.08 (1), any applicable minimum and maximum forfeiture specified in sub. (2) or (3) for the violation shall be doubled.
325,3 Section 3 . Initial applicability.
(1) This act first applies to violations committed on the effective date of this subsection, but does not preclude the counting of other violations as prior violations for sentencing a person or for suspending or revoking a person's operating privilege.
325,4 Section 4 . Effective date.
(1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 6th month beginning after publication.
