1999 WISCONSIN ACT 136

An Act to create 20.485 (2) (q), 21.11 (3) and 45.19 of the statutes; relating to: military honors funerals for veterans and making an appropriation.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

1. 20.005 (3) (schedule) of the statutes: at the appropriate place, insert the following amounts for the purposes indicated:

2. 20.485 (2) (q) of the statutes is created to read:
20.485 (2) (q) Military honors funerals. Biennially, the amounts in the schedule to provide military honors funerals for veterans under s. 45.19.

3. 21.11 (3) of the statutes is created to read:
21.11 (3) The adjutant general may activate members of the national guard for the purpose of serving on an honors detail of a military honors funeral for a deceased veteran under s. 45.19.

4. 45.19 of the statutes is created to read:
45.19 Military honors funerals. The department of veterans affairs shall administer a program to coordinate the provision of military honors funerals to deceased veterans by local units of member organizations of the council on veterans programs and by members of the Wisconsin national guard activated under s. 21.11 (3). From the appropriation under s. 20.485 (2) (q), the department shall reimburse a local unit of a member organization of the council on veterans programs for the costs of providing a military honors funeral to a deceased veteran
whose family has insufficient resources to pay those costs. The reimbursement may not exceed $50 for each military honors funeral.

Appropriation changes; veterans affairs.
(1m) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of veterans affairs under section 20.485 (2) (u) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 1999, the dollar amount is increased by $227,800 for fiscal year 1999-00 and the dollar amount is increased by $633,500 for fiscal year 2000-01 to increase the authorized FTE positions by 18.0 SEG positions on May 1, 2000, to administer the military honors funeral program.
