SENATE AMENDMENT 1, To 1995 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 27

October 3, 1995 - Offered by Senator Fitzgerald.

SJR27-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the joint resolution as follows:

SJR27-SA1,1,3 1. Page 1, line 3: after "for" insert ", and the restriction on holding any other office by,".

SJR27-SA1,1,4 2. Page 2, line 16: after that line insert:

SJR27-SA1,1,5 " Section 2d. Section 4 (3) of article VI of the constitution is amended to read:

SJR27-SA1,1,8 [Article VI] Section 4 (3) Sheriffs shall hold no other office. Sheriffs may be required by law to renew their security from time to time, and in default of giving such new security their office shall be deemed vacant.

SJR27-SA1, s. 2p Section 2p. Section 4 (6) of article VI of the constitution is created to read:

SJR27-SA1,1,13 [Article VI] Section 4 (6) Sheriffs, coroners, registers of deeds, district attorneys, clerks, treasurers and surveyors may not hold any other office of public trust during the term for which elected or appointed, unless the person resigns the office before the person becomes a candidate for the other office of public trust.".

SJR27-SA1,1,14 3. Page 3, line 6: after that line insert:

SJR27-SA1,1,15 " Section 3m. Section 12 (6) of article VII of the constitution is created to read:

SJR27-SA1,2,4 [Article VII] Section 12 (6) Clerks of circuit court may not hold any other office of public trust during the term for which elected or appointed, unless the person resigns the office before the person becomes a candidate for the other office of public trust.".
