SENATE AMENDMENT 7, TO SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 2, TO SENATE BILL 2

May 18, 1998 - Offered by Senator George.

SB2-SSA2-SA7,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:

SB2-SSA2-SA7,1,3 1. Page 2, line 9: after "school;" insert "authorizing the Milwaukee Public Schools to retain an attorney;".

SB2-SSA2-SA7,1,4 2. Page 9, line 8: after that line insert:

SB2-SSA2-SA7,1,5 " Section 19m. 119.12 (6) of the statutes is amended to read:

SB2-SSA2-SA7,2,2 119.12 (6) The city attorney of the city shall be the legal adviser of and attorney for the board, except that unless the board may retain an attorney to represent the board in any matter if the board determines that it requires specialized legal expertise not possessed by the city attorney, the city attorney does not have sufficient staff to adequately represent the interests of the board or a conflict of interest exists determines to retain a different attorney. The board shall provide the city attorney with reasonable notice of any board meeting at which the board will consider retention of an attorney.".
