9under s. 20.515 (2) (g) to the general fund the amounts necessary to repay the loan
10from the state life insurance fund under s. 607.25 when the secretary of

12appropriation under s. 20.515 (2) (g) are sufficient to make the lapse. The amounts
13that are required to be lapsed under s. 20.515 (2) (g) shall equal the amount necessary

(4) Advertising. The department shall plan and conduct a program of
21advertising and promotion designed to attract interested persons to this state and
22to stimulate the enjoyment of its recreational opportunities by residents and
23nonresidents alike. Any contracts engaging a private agency to conduct an
24advertising or promotion program under this subsection shall reserve to the
1department the right to terminate the contract if the service is unsatisfactory to the
2department. The department shall encourage and coordinate the efforts of public
3and private organizations to publicize the facilities and attractions of the state for
4the purpose of stimulating their enjoyment by residents and tourists.
The
5department shall advertise historic sites and state parks with funding from the same
6appropriation account or accounts.".

23proceeds must be used to promote historic and prehistoric attractions in the area,
24and may be used for such purposes as interpretive or directional signs, website

10admission to historic sites or buildings acquired, leased or operated by the historical
11society, including areas within state parks or on other state-owned lands which
12incorporate historic buildings, restorations, museums or remains and which are
13operated by the historical society by agreement with the department of
natural
14resources fish, wildlife, parks, and forestry or other departments, or for lectures,
15pageants or similar special events, or for admission to defray the costs of special
16exhibits in its several buildings of documents, objects or other materials not part of
17the historical society's regular collections but brought in on loan from other sources
18for such special exhibitions or for use of the main library. The historical society shall
19take action on a continuing basis to raise funds from private sources for the operation
20of its main library. The historical society may procure and sell or otherwise dispose
21of postcards, souvenirs and other appropriate merchandise to help defray the costs
22of operating its several plants and projects.".

17preservation, management and use of submerged cultural resources and the
18management of bottomland preserves. On or before February 1 of each
19odd-numbered year, the historical society shall submit a report to the governor and

21standing committees under s. 13.172 (3), on submerged cultural resources activities
22and implementation of this subsection.
