ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO 2005 ASSEMBLY BILL 996

AB996-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB996-AA1,1,2 1. Page 2, line 9: after that line insert:

AB996-AA1,1,4 "5m. "Legislative campaign committee" has the meaning given in s. 11.01 (12s).".

AB996-AA1,1,6 2. Page 2, line 18: after "candidate" insert "or a legislative campaign committee".

AB996-AA1,1,8 3. Page 2, line 23: after "candidate" insert "or a legislative campaign committee".

AB996-AA1,1,9 4. Page 3, line 2: after that line insert:

AB996-AA1,1,11 " Section 2m. 19.45 (14) (a) 5m. of the statutes, as created by 2005 Wisconsin Act .... (this act), is repealed.

AB996-AA1, s. 3m Section 3m. 19.45 (14) (b) and (c) of the statutes, as created by 2005 Wisconsin Act .... (this act), are repealed and recreated to read:

AB996-AA1,2,5 19.45 (14) (b) No individual who holds the position of secretary, deputy, executive assistant, division administrator, or commissioner in any executive branch agency may solicit any contribution on behalf of a candidate for state or national office or the personal campaign committee or authorized support committee of such a candidate.

AB996-AA1,2,10 (c) No individual who holds the position of secretary, deputy, executive assistant, division administrator, or commissioner in any executive branch agency may host, endorse, or sponsor a fund-raising event on behalf of a candidate for state or national office or the personal campaign committee or authorized support committee of such a candidate.

AB996-AA1, s. 4m Section 4m. Nonstatutory provisions.

AB996-AA1,2,17 (1) Notwithstanding section 990.001 (11) of the statutes, if a court finds that the repeal and recreation of section 19.45 (14) (b) or (c) of the statutes or the repeal of section 19.45 (14) (a) 5m. of the statutes by this act, or any part of the laws specified in 2001 Wisconsin Act 109, section 9115 (2y) (b), is unconstitutional, the repeal and recreation of section 19.45 (14) (b) and (c) of the statutes and the repeal of section 19.45 (14) (a) 5m. of the statutes by this act is void.".
