ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 5, TO ASSEMBLY SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 1, TO 2011 ASSEMBLY BILL 259

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,3 1. Page 1, line 4: delete "(1) In this section, "youth athletic" and substitute "(1) In this section:

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,5 (a) "Credential" means a license or certificate of certification issued by this state.

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,6 (am) "Health care provider" means a person to whom all of the following apply:

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,8 1. He or she holds a credential that authorizes the person to provide health care.

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,10 2. He or she is trained and has experience in evaluating and managing pediatric concussions and head injuries.

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,11 3. He or she is practicing within the scope of his or her credential.".

AB259-ASA1-AA5,1,12 2. Page 1, line 5: before "activity" insert:

AB259-ASA1-AA5,2,1 "(c) "Youth athletic".

AB259-ASA1-AA5,2,2 3. Page 2, line 10: delete lines 10 to 12 and substitute:

AB259-ASA1-AA5,2,8 "(4) (a) An athletic coach, or official involved in a youth athletic activity, or health care provider shall remove a person from the youth athletic activity if the coach, official, or health care provider determines that the person exhibits signs, symptoms, or behavior consistent with a concussion or head injury or the coach, official, or health care provider suspects the person has sustained a concussion or head injury.".

AB259-ASA1-AA5,2,10 4. Page 2, line 15: delete the material beginning with "who" and ending with "injuries" on line 16.
