AB7-SA11,1,4 4" Section 116g. 343.16 (3) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB7-SA11,2,105 343.16 (3) (a) The department shall examine every applicant for the renewal
6of an operator's license once every 8 years. The department may institute a method
7of selecting the date of renewal so that such examination shall be required for each
8applicant for renewal of a license to gain a uniform rate of examinations. The
9examination shall consist of a test of eyesight. The department shall make
10provisions for giving such examinations at examining stations in each county to all
11applicants for an operator's license. At least one examining station in each county
12shall be open for business on each weekday except that, in any county with a
13geographic area of at least 500 square miles, at least 2 examining stations in the

1county shall be open for business on each weekday.
The person to be examined shall
2appear at the examining station nearest the person's place of residence or at such
3time and place as the department designates in answer to an applicant's request. In
4lieu of examination, the applicant may present or mail to the department a report
5of examination of the applicant's eyesight by an ophthalmologist, optometrist, or
6physician licensed to practice medicine. The report shall be based on an examination
7made not more than 3 months prior to the date it is submitted. The report shall be
8on a form furnished and in the form required by the department. The department
9shall decide whether, in each case, the eyesight reported is sufficient to meet the
10current eyesight standards.
AB7-SA11, s. 116h 11Section 116h. 343.16 (3) (a) of the statutes, as affected by 2007 Wisconsin Act

and 2011 Wisconsin Act .... (this act), is repealed and recreated to read:
AB7-SA11,3,613 343.16 (3) (a) Except as provided in s. 343.165 (4) (d), the department shall
