SENATE AMENDMENT 1, TO SENATE SUBSTITUTE AMENDMENT 2, TO 2011 SENATE BILL 243

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,3 1. Page 1, line 4: delete "(1) In this section, "youth athletic" and substitute "(1) In this section:

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,5 (a) "Credential" means a license or certificate of certification issued by this state.

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,6 (am) "Health care provider" means a person to whom all of the following apply:

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,8 1. He or she holds a credential that authorizes the person to provide health care.

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,10 2. He or she is trained and has experience in evaluating and managing pediatric concussions and head injuries.

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,11 3. He or she is practicing within the scope of his or her credential.

SB243-SSA2-SA1,1,12 (c) "Youth athletic".

SB243-SSA2-SA1,2,1 2. Page 2, line 11: delete "physician" and substitute "health care provider".

SB243-SSA2-SA1,2,2 3. Page 2, line 11: after that line:

SB243-SSA2-SA1,2,7 "(2m) An athletic coach, official involved in a youth athletic activity, or health care provider shall remove a person from the youth athletic activity if the coach, official, or health care provider determines that the person exhibits signs, symptoms, or behavior consistent with a concussion or head injury or the coach, official, or health care provider suspects the person has sustained a concussion or head injury.".
