AB389-ASA1-AA7,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the substitute amendment as follows:
AB389-ASA1-AA7,1,3 21. Page 2, line 12: delete the material beginning with that line and ending with
3page 3, line 2, and substitute:
AB389-ASA1-AA7,1,5 4" Section 3c. 346.57 (4) (gm) of the statutes is renumbered 346.57 (4) (gm)
5(intro.) and amended to read:
AB389-ASA1-AA7,1,96 346.57 (4) (gm) (intro.) Sixty-five miles per hour on On any freeway or
7expressway. that is not a part of the national system of interstate and defense
8highways, 65 miles per hour, and on any freeway or expressway that is a part of the
9national system of interstate and defense highways, the following:

1has established a maximum speed limit of 65 miles per hour for vehicles under this
2subdivision, 65 miles per hour for a commercial motor vehicle, except a motor bus,
3having a gross weight of more than 26,000 pounds.

AB389-ASA1-AA7,2,5 52. Page 3, line 2: after that line insert:
AB389-ASA1-AA7,2,7 6" Section 3g. 349.11 (8) (c) of the statutes is renumbered 349.11 (8) (c) 1. and
7amended to read:
AB389-ASA1-AA7,2,118 349.11 (8) (c) 1. Maximum Except as provided in subd. 2., maximum speed
9limits which are not uniformly applicable to all types of motor vehicles using a
10highway, except that a lower speed limit may be established for any vehicle operating
11under a special permit because of any weight or dimension of such vehicle.
AB389-ASA1-AA7,3r 12Section 3r. 349.11 (8) (c) 2. of the statutes is created to read:
AB389-ASA1-AA7,3,213 349.11 (8) (c) 2. Not later than the first day of the 7th month beginning after
14the effective date of this subdivision .... [LRB inserts date], the department shall
15submit to the appropriate standing committees of the legislature, as determined by
16the speaker of the assembly and the president of the senate, a report on the safety
17and suitability of a 65-mile-per-hour speed limit for commercial motor vehicles,
18except motor buses, having a gross weight of more than 26,000 pounds on a freeway
19or expressway upon which other vehicles are subject to a speed limit of 70 miles per
20hour. If the department determines that a differential speed limit would improve
21safety on the freeways or expressways, the department may establish under s.
22346.57 (4) (gm) maximum speed limits on a freeway or expressway that is a part of

1the national system of interstate and defense highways that are not uniformly
2applicable to all types of motor vehicles using the highway.".
