AB249-AA1,1,11 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:
AB249-AA1,1,2 21. Page 1, line 5: before that line insert:
AB249-AA1,1,3 3" Section 1g. 256.01 (6), (7), (8) and (9) of the statutes are amended to read:
AB249-AA1,1,74 256.01 (6) "Emergency medical technician — basic" means an individual who
5is licensed by the department to administer basic life support and to properly handle
6and transport sick, disabled or injured individuals or is exempt under s. 256.15 (2)
7(b)
.
AB249-AA1,1,10 8(7) "Emergency medical technician — intermediate" means an individual who
9is licensed by the department as an emergency medical technician — intermediate
10under s. 256.15 (5) or is exempt under s. 256.15 (2) (b).
AB249-AA1,2,2 11(8) "Emergency medical technician — paramedic" means an individual who is
12specially trained in emergency cardiac, trauma and other lifesaving or emergency
13procedures in a training program or course of instruction prescribed by the

1department and who is examined and licensed as an emergency medical technician
2— paramedic under s. 256.15 (5) or is exempt under s. 256.15 (2) (b).
AB249-AA1,2,8 3(9) "First responder" means a person who is certified by the department as a
4first responder under s. 256.15 (8) (a) or is exempt under s. 256.15 (2) (b) and who,
5as a condition of employment or as a member of an organization that provides
6emergency medical care before hospitalization, provides emergency medical care to
7a sick, disabled or injured individual before the arrival of an ambulance, but who
8does not provide transportation for a patient.".
AB249-AA1,2,10 92. Page 2, line 6: on lines 6 and 9, after "under s. 257.03" insert "and except
10as provided in par. (b)

AB249-AA1,2,18 113. Page 2, line 15: delete that line and substitute "this state is not required to
12hold an ambulance service provider license under this section. An emergency
13medical technician licensed in or holding a training permit in another state who is
14involved in 10 or fewer patient transports per year that originate and terminate
15within this state is not required to hold an emergency medical technician license or
16training permit under this section. A first responder certified in another state who
17provides emergency medical care to 10 or fewer patients per year within this state
18is not required to hold a first responder certificate under this section.".
