ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 2, TO ASSEMBLY BILL 27

AB27-AA2,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB27-AA2,1,7 1. Page 2, line 2: after "expressway." insert "On a highway with a 70 miles per hour limit under this paragraph, if the department determines on the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation that a speed limit of 70 miles per hour for commercial motor vehicles is greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions found to exist on any part of the highway, the department may establish a 65 miles per hour limit applicable only to commercial motor vehicles.".

AB27-AA2,1,8 2. Page 2, line 2: after that line insert:

AB27-AA2,1,9 " Section 2m. 346.57 (6) (b) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB27-AA2,2,2 346.57 (6) (b) The 70 miles per hour limit specified under sub. (4) (gm) is not effective unless official signs giving notice of the limit have been erected by the department. A limit applicable only to commercial motor vehicles under sub. (4) (gm) is not effective unless official signs giving notice of the differential limit have been erected by the department.

AB27-AA2,3m Section 3m. 349.11 (8) (c) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB27-AA2,2,7 349.11 (8) (c) Maximum speed limits which are not uniformly applicable to all types of motor vehicles using a highway, except as provided in s. 346.57 (4) (gm) and except that a lower speed limit may be established for any vehicle operating under a special permit because of any weight or dimension of such vehicle.".
