ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 4, TO ASSEMBLY BILL 8

AB8-AA4,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB8-AA4,1,2 1. Page 1, line 2: after “opioid" insert “and methamphetamine".

AB8-AA4,1,3 2. Page 1, line 3: before that line insert:

AB8-AA4,1,4 “ Section 1c. 51.422 (title) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB8-AA4,1,5 51.422 (title) Opioid and methamphetamine treatment programs.”.

AB8-AA4,1,6 3. Page 2, line 1: after “opioid" insert “and methamphetamine".

AB8-AA4,1,7 4. Page 2, line 2: after “addiction" insert “and methamphetamine addiction".

AB8-AA4,1,10 “ Section 1p. 51.422 (2) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB8-AA4,2,8 51.422 (2) Program components. An opioid or methamphetamine treatment program created under this section shall offer an assessment to individuals in need of service to determine what type of treatment is needed. The program shall transition individuals to a certified residential program, if that level of treatment is necessary. The program shall provide counseling, medication-assisted treatment, including both long-acting opioid antagonist and partial agonist medications that have been approved by the federal food and drug administration if treating opioid addiction, and abstinence-based treatment. The program shall transition individuals who have completed treatment to county-based or private post-treatment care.”.
