ASSEMBLY AMENDMENT 1, TO ASSEMBLY BILL 981

AB981-AA1,1,1 At the locations indicated, amend the bill as follows:

AB981-AA1,1,4 1. Page 1, line 4: after “specialty schools" insert “and requiring completion of a course on human trafficking as a condition of licensure for cosmetologists, aestheticians, electrologists, manicurists, and barbers".

AB981-AA1,1,5 2. Page 3, line 11: after that line insert:

AB981-AA1,1,6 “ Section 9. 440.65 of the statutes is created to read:

AB981-AA1,1,11 440.65 Notification of required curriculum. Any school or specialty school licensed by the department under this subchapter shall inform all students of the requirements to complete a course on human trafficking to qualify for licensure under ss. 454.06 (1) (d) and 454.23 (2) (f) and the requirements to complete a course on human trafficking to renew licensure under ss. 454.12 (2) and 454.265 (2).

AB981-AA1,10 Section 10. 454.06 (1) (d) of the statutes is created to read:

AB981-AA1,2,4 454.06 (1) (d) The applicant completes a course on human trafficking offered by a cosmetology school or a specialty school under s. 440.62 (5) (b) 1m. or a course on human trafficking that is offered or endorsed by a state or federal agency and approved by the department.

AB981-AA1,11 Section 11. 454.06 (8) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB981-AA1,2,11 454.06 (8) Expiration and renewal. The renewal date for licenses issued under subs. (2) to (6) is specified under s. 440.08 (2) (a), and the renewal fees for such licenses are determined by the department under s. 440.03 (9) (a). The examining board may not renew a license issued to a person under subs. (2) to (6) unless the person satisfies s. 454.12 (2) and certifies to the examining board that the person has reviewed the current digest under s. 454.125.

AB981-AA1,12 Section 12. 454.12 of the statutes is renumbered 454.12 (1).

AB981-AA1,13 Section 13. 454.12 (2) of the statutes is created to read:

AB981-AA1,2,18 454.12 (2) The examining board shall require that a person who holds a license under this subchapter complete a course on human trafficking offered by a cosmetology school or a specialty school under s. 440.62 (5) (b) 1m. or a course on human trafficking that is offered or endorsed by a state or federal agency and approved by the department as a condition of license renewal under s. 454.06 (8).

AB981-AA1,14 Section 14. 454.23 (2) (f) of the statutes is created to read:

AB981-AA1,2,23 454.23 (2) (f) The applicant completes a course on human trafficking offered by a school of barbering under s. 440.62 (5) (b) 2m. or a course on human trafficking that is offered or endorsed by a state or federal agency and approved by the department.

AB981-AA1,15 Section 15. 454.23 (5) of the statutes is amended to read:

AB981-AA1,3,6 454.23 (5) Expiration and renewal. The renewal date for a license granted under sub. (2) is specified under s. 440.08 (2) (a), and the renewal fee for that license is determined by the department under s. 440.03 (9) (a). The department may not renew a license granted to a person under this section unless the person satisfies s. 454.265 (2) and certifies to the department that the person has reviewed the current digest under s. 454.267.

AB981-AA1,16 Section 16. 454.265 of the statutes is renumbered 454.265 (1).

AB981-AA1,17 Section 17. 454.265 (2) of the statutes is created to read:

AB981-AA1,3,13 454.265 (2) The examining board shall require that a person who holds a license under this subchapter complete a course on human trafficking offered by a school of barbering under s. 440.62 (5) (b) 2m. or a course on human trafficking that is offered or endorsed by a state or federal agency and approved by the department as a condition of license renewal under s. 454.23 (5).”.
