The Senate was called to order by Senator Brian Rude.

The Senate remained standing and Senator George led the Senate in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

Senator Rude, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate welcome the delegates from the Frelimo and Renamo parties in Mozambique. Mr. Alcido Guenha, Ms. Raquel Damiao, Ms. Virgilia Matabele, Mr. Inusso Ismail, Mr. Teodato Hunguana and Mr. Antonio from the Frelimo party and Mr. Manuel Pereira, Mr. Carvalho Antonio, Ms. Maria Enoque, Mr. Jafar Bulamo Jafar, Mr. Celestino Bento and Mr. Sebastiao Temporario from the Renamo party.
