Speaker Jensen introduced Representative R. Potter, who addressed the members from the rostrum on the history of the Dalai Lama. Speaker Jensen introduced His Holiness, The 14th Dalai Lama, Ngawang Lobsang Tenzin Gyatso of Tibet, who was escorted to the rostrum by Governor Tommy G. Thompson. After receiving gifts from Speaker Jensen, Speaker Pro Tempore Freese and Representative R. Potter, His Holiness addressed the members from the rostrum.
(Note: Pursuant to the unanimous consent request made by Representative R. Potter on Tuesday, May 5, 1998, the remarks by the Dalai Lama will be transcribed and entered into the Assembly Journal at a later date.)
Representative Jensen asked unanimous consent that the Assembly stand recessed until 3:00 P.M. Granted.
