July 8,1998
The Honorable, The Legislature:
We have completed financial audits of the Mendota and Winnebago Mental Health Institutes for fiscal year 1996-97. We were able to provide unqualified opinions on the Institutes' financial statements. We note, on an accrual basis, the improved financial condition experienced by the Institutes over prior years. Based on accrual accounting, the Mendota Mental Health Institute had net income of $676,233 and the Winnebago Mental Health Institute had net income of $1,209,348, compared to significant losses in the prior fiscal year.
Detailed copies of the audit report have been distributed to members of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee and those required by law to receive them. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the audit report, please contact our office and request a copy of report 98-11.
Sincerely,
Janice Mueller
