"In the 'Nam, certain US Marines, upon successful completion of a search & destroy mission, or after a recon patrol without casualties, would celebrate in a unique fashion.
"The manner was truly inspiring and exalting. It was a joyous Thanksgiving that was without words.
"Words cannot even describe this elation. Listen closely and feel your five senses be more alive.
[Loud whistle!] "Hyaaa ai yi yi!"
"In this spirit of unmasked, unharnessed and uninhibited jubilation, please join me in Reverent Prayer to our Almighty-God.
"Thank You Dear Lord Jesus for this opportunity to praise You, worship You, and be Your loyal, humble public servants.
"As we enhance the quality of life for all those whose lives we touch-
"May we do so from the bottom of our hearts, in the essence of our soul and with every fiber of our existence.
"Helping others to discover their hidden talents, resources and to utilize their full potential brings us ever closer to You, Lord.
"Especially when we give You thanks, Lord.
"While asking to share Your wisdom, power, understanding and love, especially love, to prevail in our lives and permeate into a special oneness with Your total hallowed being.
"This special oneness with You includes us as individuals, or families, friends and Senate constituents.
"Thus, we pursue a heavenly bliss.
"Oh Lord, perhaps heaven is not such a great mystery at all. Heaven may not be necessarily up there, or Hell down there.
"Somehow, within that supernatural 3rd / 4 th Dimension within the 6th sense.
"Heaven is perhaps among us, between us and within us.
"May our shared power with You be positive and our passion pure.
"May we envelop others in our shared contagious enthusiasm and refreshing optimism.
"May we have hunger in our heart, fire in the belly, and souls absolutely on fire!"
The Senate remained standing and Senator Plache led the Senate in the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.
