Bernadette worked for Senator Roessler as an intern and then as an aide until July of 2005 when she left to work for my office until June of 2006 when she left to return to graduate school to earn her MBA at UW-Madison. As most of you can guess Senator Roessler and I don't usually share a lot of staffers. However that was Bernadette a free spirit who did things her way and was bipartisan with a capitol B. She didn't care if you sat in the inner circle or outer circle she just cared that you were a good person who cared about helping others. Bernadette wanted everyone to feel like they belonged to something bigger something that they would be proud of regardless of political affiliation. That was the driving reason behind her founding the Capitol Kickers the totally bipartisan kickball team that continues on today. She thought that everyone playing kickball together and socializing was a great way to work off all of the stress and get to know people on both sides of the political spectrum because who knows what a legislative staffer goes through besides other staffers. Bernadette is survived by her mother Mary Holland. Mary is looking at this holiday season as the first without her only child so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
