The Honorable, The Legislature:
This document presents the Department of Corrections' biennial report for the period ending June 30, 2007, in accordance with s.15.04(1)(d), Wis. Stats. The report outlines our accomplishments for the completed biennium and includes a summary of objectives for the current biennium.
The Department's primary mission is the safety and security of the public through incarceration of adult and juvenile offenders in correctional facilities and through the supervision of offenders in the community. In addition, we must provide a safe and secure environment for our staff in carrying out their duties and provide offenders opportunities to be successfully reintegrated into society when they are released. Our achievements of the past two years reflect the efforts of DOC's dedicated and conscientious employees and our local government and private sector partners, who successfully met the many challenges facing them.
We look forward to continuing to carry out our responsibilities to the citizens of Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
rick raemisch
Secretary
