Relating to a Special Election for the Sixtieth Assembly District, Eighty-third Assembly District, and Ninety-fourth Assembly District
WHEREAS, the Honorable Mark Gottlieb, submitted his resignation as a State Representative for the Sixtieth Assembly District, effective January 3, 2011;
WHEREAS, the Honorable Scott Gunderson, submitted his resignation as a State Representative for the Eighty-third Assembly District, effective January 3, 2011;
WHEREAS, the Honorable Michael Huebsch, submitted his resignation as a State Representative for the Ninety-fourth Assembly District, effective January 3, 2011;
Now therefore, I, Scott Walker, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, pursuant to article IV, section 14 of the Wisconsin Constitution and section 8.50(4) of the Wisconsin Statutes, order that a special election be held on May 3, 2011 to fill the vacancies in the Sixtieth Assembly District, the Eighty-third Assembly District, and the Ninety-fourth Assembly District, as created in the combined cases Baumgart et al. v. Wendelberger, Case No. 01-C-0121 (ED. Wis. 2002) and Jensen et al. v. Wendelberger, Case No. 02-C-0366 (E.D. Wis. 2002), whose boundaries are set out in the Judicial Plan following section 4.005 of the 2009-2010 Wisconsin Statutes. A copy of the boundary descriptions can be obtained from the Government Accountability Board or the Legislative Reference Bureau at 1 East Main Street, Suite 200, Madison, Wisconsin. The terms for the Sixtieth, Eighty-fourth, and Ninety-third Assembly Districts will expire on the first Monday in January 2013. If a primary is necessary, it shall be held on April 5, 2011. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, February 22, 2011 and nomination papers must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m., March 8, 2011 in the office of the Government Accountability Board. This election shall be held, conducted, canvassed, and returned in accordance with law.
