Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Miller, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard, which was one of two Air Reserve bases selected to be home to a F-35A jet fighter squadron. The selection of the 115th Fighter Wing and Truax Field is a testimony to the decades long excellence of the airmen and women who serve in the 115 Fighter Wing and the facilities and airspace available in Wisconsin for combat training.
Senator Marklein, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in memory of his father, Ray Marklein, who would have been 84 today. He was a Marine in WWII and died unexpectedly in 1986.
Senator Darling, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Dr. Mike Kubly, who died today. He was a father of 7, wonderful physician, great friend and very generous contributor to the state of Wisconsin.
Senator Tiffany, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of William “Bill” Wood of Three Lakes.
Senator Bewley, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Talia Martens, a remarkably talented and impressive young woman from Northern Wisconsin. Senator Bewley had the pleasure of meeting Talia a number of times and joining her family and friends as they cheered her to ever-growing success in leading dog teams. Senator Bewley is honored that she even had the chance to help her team as a dog handler and she couldn’t be more impressed with her drive and inspiring attitude. Talia started running in races when she was 10 years old and next month at the age of 17 Talia will follow her dream of running her own dog team in Alaska. Talia will be running in the Junior Iditarod in Alaska on February 24 and 25th and will have quite a rooting section from here in Wisconsin. Senator Bewley know her staff and she will be following her progress closely online. Talia is a wildly talented young woman who is also an accomplished musician, shows horses and is a leader in the Gitche Gumee 4H in Oulu, Wisconsin. Senator Bewley hopes you will join her in not only adjourning in honor of Talia Martens but also rooting her on next month.
