Executive Order Number 280
Relating to Special Elections for the First Senate District and the Forty-Second Assembly District
WHEREAS, on March 22, 2018, Judge Josann Reynolds of the Dane County Circuit Court ordered special elections for the First Senate District and Forty-Second Assembly District of Wisconsin;
NOW THEREFORE, I, SCOTT WALKER, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, order that special elections be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018, to fill the vacancies in the First Senate District, the boundaries of which are set out in section 4.009 (1) of the Wisconsin Statutes, as created by 2011 Act 43, and the Forty-Second Assembly District, the boundaries of which are set out in section 4.42 of the Wisconsin Statutes, as created by 2011 Act 43. A copy of the boundary descriptions may be obtained from the Elections Commission or the Legislative Reference Bureau. The terms of office for the First Senate District and the Forty-Second Assembly District will expire on the first Monday in January, 2019. If primaries are necessary, they will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, March 29, 2018, and nomination papers must be filed no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, in the office of the Elections Commission, 212 East Washington Avenue, Third Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. These elections shall be held, conducted, canvassed, and returned in accordance with law.
