_____________
Announcements, adjournment honors, and remarks under special privilege
Senator Miller, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Sarah Burhop of the Senate Chief Clerk’s Office, who is retiring at the end of July after 32 years in the State Legislature. Sarah started working with the Legislative Hotline back in 1988 when that office was staffed and answered questions from constituents around the state that would call the toll-free number. She transitioned over to the Chief Clerk’s office in 1994, where she has been a valuable member of the staff serving under three different chief clerks. We all know her, of course, for having worked during Senate sessions at the front desk longer than most of us have been in this body, except of course for the Senator from the 26th. Sarah is known for her friendly and caring nature, knowing everyone who works in the Senate by name. We wish Sarah well in her retirement.
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Jennifer Diener (Jacobson), who lost her life as a result of a tragic traffic crash during severe winter weather on snow covered and slippery roads on February 9th. Jennifer served as a Racine Police Officer since 1995 in several positions within the department.
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Elizabeth Olszewski, an occupant of a second vehicle who also lost her life and will be sadly missed.
