Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his Chief of staff, Scott Kelly, on the 10th Anniversary of his 39th birthday. Senator Wanggaard wishes him health and prosperity in the coming years.
Senator Agard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It was launched nationwide in 1987 as a way to connect and unite individuals in organizations who work on the frontlines addressing domestic violence issues while raising awareness of this public health crisis we face in our nation.
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Bernard “Buzz” England, who passed away recently after a long battle with cancer. Buzz was a great teacher and coach in the Kenosha Unified School system. Rest in peace Buzz.
Senator Darling, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the women who suffer from breast cancer.
Senator Bewley, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Forest Products week, which our state celebrated last week. Our forest products industry is a huge force in our state’s economy, contributing $24.5 billion in goods each year and accounting for 64,000 jobs. Wisconsin is fortunate to have a strong, forward-reaching Council on Forestry. Since its creation in 2002, the Council has advised the Governor, the legislature, the DNR, and other state agencies on complex and interdependent issues such as jobs and the economy, land use policy, tourism, invasive species, wildlife management, and of course, the forest products industry. Senator Bewley is proud to serve on this committee, and she applaud the work of so many capable men and women in our state
