Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his father whose birthday was on March 21st. He would have been 105 years old.
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his brother Kevin, who passed away this past year, who was born on March 16th.
Senator Wanggaard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his daughter Kathleen, who is battling colon cancer, as well as the many other families that are experiencing this catastrophic health issue. Senator Wanggaard also wanted to note that March is colorectal cancer awareness month.
Senator Pfaff, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the UW-La Crosse Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams. Both the men’s and women’s teams won the 2023 NCAA Division 3 Indoor Track and Field Championships, making UWL the first school in NCAA Division 3 history to win both men’s and women’s indoor championships in the same year.
Senator Pfaff, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the Onalaska Luther High School Boys Basketball team who won the Division 4 State Championship Game last weekend, their first state title in program history.
Senator Feyen, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his of my constituents, Allison Gordee, who recently won the carpentry category in the Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin Annual Skills Competition in January in West Bend. She then went on to compete at the national competition in Florida on March 14th-17th. Allie is a carpentry apprentice for Northcentral Construction of Fond du Lac. Senator Feyen was happy to report that Ali earned the top safety award at the National Competition last week in Orlando, Florida. Ali is only the second female from ABC of Wisconsin to compete at the national competition. Please join Senator Feyen in congratulating Allie and adjourning in her honor today.
Senator Roys, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the 2023 University of Wisconsin-Madison women's hockey team winning the 2023 NCAA Division I National Championship for a record breaking 7th time! They defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes in a 1-0 shutout in the finals of the Frozen Four. This outstanding team, the coaches and staff continuously demonstrate perseverance, talent, and sportsmanship season after season. What an inspiration for all the young hockey players in our state and make sure you get over to LaBahn and see them next season!
