Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Wirch, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Tom Van Dahm, who will be celebrating his 100th birthday. Tom is a WWII veteran and a retired professor from Carthage college.
Senator Larson, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of Charles Johnson - better known to all of you as “Chuck the mail guy.” Chuck began his career with the legislature in the fall of 2001. Even before that he used to deliver dry cleaning to the building. Chuck was the grease that kept the wheel of communication going throughout the years. It’s thanks to his work that we have been able to get our message out to our neighbors, and receive the hundreds of letters our constituents send to us each session. Cutting across party lines and titles, Chuck was always quick with a joke or the latest news, and he treated you with kindness and respect whether your name was on the door or you were an intern just getting your feet wet in state government. For the fiscal hawks among us, Chuck saved taxpayers thousands upon thousands of dollars with his wisdom and attention to detail. He remains a dedicated and proud father to his 3 children. We congratulate Chuck on his retirement and thank him for his more than two decades of service to the people of Wisconsin. Everyone knows that in his free time Chuck is an accomplished fisherman. Unfortunately for the Senate, but perhaps fittingly Chuck himself is now the one that got away.
Senator Wimberger, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of his mother, who is celebrating a birthday tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day.
