Announcements, Adjournment Honors, and Remarks Under Special Privilege
Senator Agard, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of her constituents, Jill Runde. Jill is retiring at the end of this school year after 22 amazing years with the McFarland School District. She started her work career in marketing with Helene Curtis in Chicago, and moved back to Madison, with her husband and son to take a marketing position with Oscar Mayer. When expecting her third child, she decided on a career change aimed at helping others. At 33, she re-enrolled in college and received a Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from UW-Platteville. She has helped countless middle school-aged children and their families, been a valuable resource for the community, and will be missed by the McFarland School District. Thank you, Jill, for your two decades of service, and Senator Agard wishes you the best in retirement!

Senator Ballweg, with unanimous consent, asked that the Senate adjourn in honor of the Boys & Girls Clubs across Wisconsin, who serve over 117,000 youth every year. With over 200 sites across 77 of our communities, these clubs serve more kids per population than any other state in the country, and more youth than any other organization outside of our public school system. They employ over 2200 staff across 23 of our senate districts, and 67 assembly districts. Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need opportunity the most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible adults. The goals of this private organization are much like our own: To make sure youth excel in school, stay off drugs, have great health, and are prepared for their first job out of school. Clubs are building and preparing the workforce of tomorrow. We especially want to honor their fifteen regional champions who competed yesterday for Youth of the Year, the highest honor given to a club member. Their interviews and speeches were scored on leadership, public service, academic excellence and contributions to their family. Last year, the Winner was Titus, from my home club in Berlin. The 2024 Youth of the Year is Loren M. from Milwaukee. Each and every one of them are leaders in their own community, and Bally Sports -- in conjunction with the Packers, Brewers and Bucks -- are awarding $25,000 in scholarships across all of the winners. Congratulations to these tremendous young adults, and we wish them much future success as we adjourn in their honor.
