AJR97,1,32 Whereas, Jule Berndt was born on April 18, 1924, in Oshkosh and died on
3December 7, 1997, in River Falls; and
AJR97,1,54 Whereas, he served as a navigator during World War II and flew 35 missions
5with the Eighth Air Force; and
AJR97,1,76 Whereas, after his return from service he graduated from the University of
7Wisconsin and Wartburg Seminary; and
AJR97,1,118 Whereas, he served as pastor of the Wellington Park Lutheran Church in
9Milwaukee from 1953 to 1966, as pastor of Ezekial Lutheran Church in River Falls
10from 1966 to 1980 and as pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire and
11Hainsville Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay; and
AJR97,1,1212 Whereas, he was elected to the Wisconsin state assembly in 1980; and
AJR97,2,213 Whereas, during his term in the assembly he served on the Aging, Women and
14Minorities Committee; the Children and Human Development Committee; the

1Commerce and Commercial Affairs Committee; and the Insurance, Cooperatives
2and Risk Management Committee; now, therefore, be it
AJR97,2,6 3Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
4Wisconsin legislature commend Jule Berndt's public service and the pastoral care
5that he provided to hundreds of parishioners, express their sorrow at his death and
6extend their condolences to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR97,2,9 7Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
8resolution to Pastor Berndt's wife, Lois; to his daughter, Leah Pasch; and to his son,
9Bill Berndt.
