2(2m) of the statutes; relating to: authorizing resident senior citizens to hunt
3with a crossbow.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a person who is a resident of this state may hunt all game,
except bear and wild turkey, with a bow and arrow if the person is issued a resident
archer hunting license by the department of natural resources (DNR). A resident
may hunt wild turkey with a bow and arrow if the person is issued a wild turkey
hunting license. A resident who holds one of these licenses and who has certain
disabilities may also hunt with a crossbow if the resident obtains a permit from DNR.
This bill provides that a person who is a resident senior citizen and who holds
an archer hunting license or a wild turkey hunting license may use a crossbow to
hunt the game authorized under that license without obtaining a permit from DNR.
