AB825,1,3 An Act to create 16.25 (1) (am) of the statutes; relating to: defining emergency medical technician for purposes of the volunteer fire fighter and emergency medical technician service award program.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, the volunteer fire fighter and emergency medical technician service award board (board) must establish by rule a program to provide length-of-service awards to volunteer fire fighters and emergency medical technicians. Under the program, annual contributions paid by municipalities are paid by the board as a tax-deferred benefit to a volunteer fire fighter or emergency medical technician who has contributed at least ten years of service for a municipality.

This bill defines "emergency medical technician" to be a licensed emergency medical technician paramedic, emergency medical technician-intermediate, or emergency medical technician-basic, or a certified first responder.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

AB825, s. 1 Section 1. 16.25 (1) (am) of the statutes is created to read:

AB825,2,3 16.25 (1) (am) "Emergency medical technician" means an emergency medical technician, as defined in s. 146.50 (1) (e) or a first responder, as defined in s. 146.50 (1) (hm).
